Hello and welcome to the first installment of my Intuitive Living Tips series! This series of blogs was inspired by Sonia Choquette's "Trust Your Vibes" print and audio books. I learned and grew so much as a result of following through with the steps outlined in these programs, and would love to share those lessons with you, too!
Each week I will be posting a new blog talking about my journey and how the lessons in Sonia's books applied to me as well as a weekly practice that you can do along with me. Sound exciting? I hope so!!

Many psychics and intuitives talk about having to hide, suppress, or ignore their intuitive gifts as they were growing up. The sad fact is that most of us don't grow up in environments where these gifts are accepted or understood. We may be told that our gifts come from "the devil" or that we will "go to hell" if we continue with our weird ways. Add to this that many of us may have suffered painful or violent deaths in past lives because of our intuitive abilities, and you end up in a place where you may be incredibly afraid to talk about your gifts, or even allow yourself to have them.
For me, I just learned not to talk about it. If I saw something strange or had dreams that happened to come true, I just didn't mention it. I learned quickly that my best defense was to keep it all to myself. I was never able to suppress my intuitive feelings or shut them off like some other people are able to, but I learned not to go talking about my experiences - to anyone. Ever.
But, as I grew into a young adult, it became harder and harder to keep quiet. After I graduated high school, I fully renounced my conventional, conservative upbringing and began exploring Wicca and the real practice of magick. I bought my first decks of Tarot cards and began giving readings for my friends. I stopped pretending to be "normal" (whatever that might be) and started allowing myself to be who I really was.
I still have fears and insecurities around offering readings to others, about sharing my beliefs and admitting that I might be Psychic. But every day I stay true to myself, every time I do a reading for someone, every time I offer to send Reiki to a friend in need, it gets easier. And every time I connect with another spirit-guided individual, I am reminded that I am not alone. I am not weird. I am not a freak. And I am definitely not going to hell any time soon!
This week, I want you to start a journal. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive - a simple notebook will do. The important part isn't that you go out and find a leather bound tome to pen your musings in - the important part is that you start!
For your first assignment, you are going to write down all the fears, negative beliefs, or attitudes you might have about following inner guidance or "being psychic." These thoughts could come from your own beliefs and experiences, or they could be inherited from other people. Take notice of every negative thought or idea that keeps you from using your own sixth sense.
As you look at your list over the coming week, ask yourself WHY you believe these things. Is it because someone told you that you would be punished or that you would "go to hell" if you followed your inner guidance? Is it because you're afraid of what other people would think of you or that following your inner guidance might make you seem "weird?" Is it because you're afraid you might be wrong?
Once you've done this, look back and ask yourself if you even really BELIEVE those old rules. What are some rules you can start breaking right now?
Be sure to check back in and share your experiences with me in the Comments section below or on my Facebook page! And if you know someone who might be interested in joining us on our intuitive journey - be sure to share this blog post with them!
