Hello and welcome to the second week of September! This month I've been working with the "Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Cards" by Colette Baron-Reid.
This week we will be examining the role of loyalty and unconditional love in our lives, taking a look at the burdens and obligations we carry with us, and will be experiencing a breakthrough of change and movement!

We begin the week with The Dog. Throughout history dogs have been the selfless servants of mankind, acting as guides, guardians, and examples of unconditional love and unending loyalty. With the appearance of this Animal Guide of Avalon, we are being asked to examine the presence of unconditional love and loyalty in our lives. Ask yourself - Am I surrounded by friends, family, and co-workers who support me? Who are loyal to me? Who I can trust? If the answer to any of these is 'no,' it may be a signal that it is high time to set some clear, positive boundaries or leave toxic people and situations behind. The Dog reminds us that is our duty not just to be loyal to the people around us, but to be loyal to our Selves. This means speaking up when your needs are not being met or when someone is trying to take advantage of you, saying 'no' when we mean it and 'yes' only when we can do so from a place of love and joy, and listening to that quiet inner voice that tells us when something is truly not right for us. The Dog reminds us all that good self-care is not selfish, it is necessary to living a healthy, whole life.
This message of setting boundaries, saying 'no' and embracing good self care continues as we enter the middle of the week and meet with the Burden marker. This is a clear message that now is a time to stop and take a good look at the projects, obligations, and burdens we have taken on. As the start of a new school year is in full swing, how many new projects and obligations have you taken on? How many committees have you joined? How many activities has your family become involved in? How many work projects, teams, and committees are you a member of? How much extra "stuff" is on your plate right now? Now, ask yourself, how many of these projects have you taken on out of a feeling of guilt or obligation? How many have you taken on because you truly love and enjoy them? Are there any that you could let go of? Are there any that you could say 'no' to next time they come around? This marker is a reminder that you do not need to do everything. It's okay to say, "No. I'm not able to do that right now." If this seems too difficult, try saying, "Let me think about that," or "Let me check my schedule" before automatically committing to every extra project that someone asks you to take on. Then take the time to really think about if this is something you want to do or just something you feel like you have to do.
Thankfully there is a lightening of energy as we reach the weekend and encounter the Movement marker! This marker is a sign that all of our hard work is paying off. If you have felt stagnant or stuck in the mud, there is a sudden lifting of energy and things will suddenly start coming together for you. Expect the unexpected as big changes are afoot! Keep an eye open for magic, miracles, and opportunities. Don't try too hard to control where life is taking you right now, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride!
